Biography    
Born 13 May 1952 in Hamburg. – Legal studies in Hamburg and Freiburg – Admission to the practice of law (Hamburg, 1981) – Doctorate Hamburg (1984). – Research stays in Japan (Kyoto, 1988) and the USA (U.C. Berkeley, 1989/90) – Scholarship recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (Univ. of Kyoto, 1990/91). - Habilitation (Post-doctoral dissertation) Hamburg (2004).

Vice President of the German-Japanese Jurists' Association1 (since 1992)– Organisation and leadership of multiple German-Japanese symposien in Germany and Japan (1992 to present) – Founder of the Journal of Japanese Law (1996) – Lecturer at the Univ. of Hamburg (since 1997) – Research Associate, European Corporate Governance Institute, Brüssel (since 2003). – Languages: German, English, Japanese and French.
